There is no better place to rest and relax than in some of Bangkok’s many gorgeous parks. Most people don’t realize that Bangkok’s busy skyline actually hides a number of different public parks and gardens. If you need a few moments away from the bustle of the city you will find the perfect oasis of calm in these parks.

Lumphini Park
Created in the late 1920s by King Rama VI, Lumphini Park sits right in the middle of Bangkok’s busy business district. Originally built on royal grounds on the outskirts of the city, this beautiful park offers a rare wide open space in the heart of a city that is growing ever closer to the sky. One of the central features is a large man-made lake which offers boat rentals but visitors will also find 2.5 km of trails and plenty of playgrounds. Bicycling is allowed between the hours of 5 am and 3 pm. The park wide smoking ban has also contributed to the cleanliness of the park.
Chatuchak and Queen Sirikit Parks
Located in the Chatuchak District of Bangkok, this park is easily accessed through its own subway station. Apart from the serenity and greenery to be found in Chatuchak Park, there is a river, dotted with numerous bridges, which runs the length of the park. Located across the street is the breath taking botanical garden known as Queen Sirikit Park. Any visitor looking for a quick change of pace from the busy weekend market will find all the quite they need in the park complex.

Bangkok is known as a thoroughly modern city which offers visitors anything they can imagine. While the city itself can often be busy and a bit crowded, the beautiful parks that can be found throughout the capital city offers locals and travellers a soothing green oasis in the middle of this metropolis. Lumphini Park, known as the Central Park of Bangkok, is known throughout the region and is something that simply must be seen. The park complex in Chatuchak offers a rare opportunity to visit a number of different parks, all within walking distance.
